Singer and kora player, Ablaye Cissoko is a part of new generation of artists from Senegal. Son of a Griot, living in Saint Louis in Senegal, Ablaye Cissoko incarnates the crossover between Mandinka traditions and contemporary musical creation. Ablaye Cissoko is known for his amazing display of musical genius and generosity, and as one of the most crossover african artist.

QUITAPENAS, one word – all caps, four syllables – all claps, gives you a taste of their rhythmic contagion. This tropical Afro-Latin combo was born under the warm California sun. They borrow aesthetics from the radical 60s, 70s and 80s. Each song echoes a remix of history and invites one to engage in the liberating evenings of Angola, Peru, Colombia, Brazil and beyond.

The Goddard Spark is an effort by Goddard alumn Adam Myers to reignite the “spark” that made Goddard College so special in the form of a new lifelong learning program inspired directly by and aiming to intelligently evoke the pedagogy, values and culture of Goddard College; offering no less than six unique, accessible and community-oriented curriculums that will explore everything from steelband music, fabriculture, historical reflection and analysis, leadership skills, political advocacy, and beyond in inclusive, diverse and compassionate student-first environments that recognize and respect individualized learning styles and meet individual needs.

Renowned for his fingerpicking technique, incredible versatility and distinctive ‘twang’ sound, his music is an unusual fusion of classical Spanish guitar, Latin rhythms, country, rockabilly, jazz…and even surf music.

Wheelz of Steel is an interactive musical game show. Ten professional musicians collaborate and compete and in the process create a hilarious mash-up of well known songs in a wild variety of genres. The audience chooses the genres and the famous rock bands they want to hear. The Wheelz of Steel choose which combinations come up, and the musicians choose which song. They have ten minutes to plan and play a mashed up masterwork. The audience scores the effort, and the Wheelz are spun again. Points are tallied and the playaz are shuffled into new band configurations. Only one can win. Who will it be?

Born to a family of bards in Sarajevo, Damir's immersion in the world of Balkan music was, perhaps, inevitable given that his grandfather Zaim was one of the most renowned folk and sevdalinka musicians of mid-20th century Yugoslavia.Sevdah is a richly evocative Bosnian word, meaning pining or a longing (for a loved one, a place, a time) that is both joyous and painful, being the main theme of sevdalinka lyrics - comparable to Portuguese fado, Greek rembetika or French chanson in its dramatic narratives. Sevdalinka originated during the Ottoman period in Bosnia and Herzegovina and was influenced by the music of the Sephardic Jewish and Roma communities, as well as the music of the Ottoman Empire.
